Question on E-trac shutting down

diggervance

New member
Hey guys,

Was out hunting a couple of weeks ago and the e-trac shut down, after a few try's turning it on and it shutting itself down it finally fired up and started up and worked fine until this past Saturday.

On Saturday I was into a hunt close to 3 hrs and I lost the sound with and without the headphones plugged in. After getting it home I changed out the coils thinking maybe I had a short in that still same thing.

On Sunday I turned on the detector and the sound was working fine. I didn't leave it on for any amount of time to see what would happen but was just wondering what your thoughts are.

Thanks Rick

I used to have that issue with my Xterra 705 from time to time, maybe once a year. I would open the battery door and close it again and it would be fine. I'm not sure if it was a program glitch or an issue with how the batteries were seated. It's been a few years since it's happened. So far I have not had that problem with my ETRAC.

I just take the battery out and put it back in. It works on my E-trac

I had that problem with my XS. After a lot of calls I found out that the control panel (face plate) went bad. I ordered a new one, replaced it and all was fine. You can get one off E-bay for around $90, E-trac control panel. You should watch a vid on You Tube about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnNBH9Jr0zQ

Well bad news!

The detector itself is turning on and staying on but the sound keeps shorting in and out. This is only my third year with this detector and it was bought new.
Does anyone know where to ship these and have them repaired?

Hi diggervance, if you email me at service@minelabamericas.com, I can help you with your repair questions!

I had that happen with an XS I once had.----Turning itself on & making weird noises--scared the wife half to death, I guess she thought it was possessed.-----I contacted Minelab & they replaced the whole unit.---It was under warranty though & it sounds like the warranty is out on yours.------Sorry I can't be of more help than that--hope you can get it repaired.---------Del

Awesome! Great news!

Glad it is under warranty. Minelab has replaced 2 sets of stock headphones no questions asked. My detector has started its 3rd season and warranty will be up in December 2017. Hope it has lots of life left in in.
