question on depth readings on the AT PRO

I have been using the ATP in my yard for about 2 months now and I have found quite a few things one thing that is confusing me is when I have located an item to dig I look at the VDI NUMBERS and then the depth of the it
Ok here is my question when you get a depth reading of an item on the meter of say 6+ inches or any depth reading really then I pin point which Sept reading is supposed to be more accurate the depth it is reading while detecting or the depth it is reading while in pin point mode

They should both be about the same. It depends on your swing heights. Some people tend to swing the coil higher off of the ground while detecting and when pinpointing they set the coil right on the ground and drag it. This will give different depths. Pay attention to how you do this and it might help you out. The closer to the ground the coil is the more accurate the depth reading will be.

When I am swinging I try to keep my coil as close to the ground as possible and do the same when pin pointing and always the depth readings are different that's why I posted up the question as to which would be the correct depth reading

The pinpoint one is the most accurate, but it's still only approximate. Once you get used to the ATP in Pro mode, you can just about tell the depth by the sound.

The "Coin Depth Indicator" on the ATP is designed to indicate approx. depth of a coin or coin sized item. The indicator will be less accurate for items larger or smaller than a coin.
