Question on coils

what is the weight diffrence between the 9x8 concetric coil for vaqeroand the 3x18 clean sweep I know the clean sweep is 1.3 pounds but what is the 9x8 ?? I can not find the answer on any site, I know the detector with the 9x8 is 2.2 pounds but what will be its total weight after putting on the 3x18 ?? ( lost secrets of modern civilizations )

Hey GunnarMN..The 9 by 8 concentric coil weights 453 grams...This WITH the scuff plate...The Clean sweep coil weights 450 grams WITHOUT the scuff plate..I use a thin piece of plastic held on with tie wraps and scrub the ground...One pound by weight is 454 grams.... I can't find the scuff plate for the CS coil....By taking your weight of 1.3 pounds ,for the CS coil and plate, the total detector weight should be 2.5 pounds ... There are no lost secrets of modern civilization..

KVM2 thank you very much, for your good work in uncovering this lost secret, the reason I asked is , I hunt soccer fields and need somthing light and so far the vaqero is winning even with the 3x18" coil my bliss is about 4 pounds . so the vaq would be the machine for the soccer field , I just may try to pick one up , I like the 9x8 coil as well having used it on the cibola,

There were two versions of the cleansweep coil, the first ones were heavier and more robust, then the lighter ones came out and they were recalled. I have the heavier version and it's my favourite coil, the 9 x 8 has been well and truly been put away because it's rubbish. I have various other coils and all are better than the 9 x 8.

GunnarMN,Forget the weight.. You use a piece of plastic as a scuff plate and scrape the ground with the clean sweep....You will develop a technique that is virtually effortless..Go back in this forum and you will find my air distance numbers with the Vaquero and the clean sweep coil ..Magician, what coils do you use in place of the 9 by 8 concentric,, AND what advantage do you see.? I believe the stock coil needs overlap, yet, is much faster than the 5.75 in covering ground..

I have a CSC I think its the newer lighter one. I do find that it feels considerably heaver than the 8" coil. Its not so bad with the scuff off. I am thinking of spraying the bottom with undercoating instesd of using the scuff. Does anyone know why the light coils were recalled? Mine seems to work fine.

Machineman.Go to a 7 / 11 Store and get one of those soft drink plastic sheet signs,,.Cut a strip 6 inches wide, 1 /2 inch longer than the length. With a heat gun, roll the side edges up.Put four holes each side, and use plastic tie wraps to secure it..Now you can sweep the ground all day, minimize the weight, and get an extra inch or so of penetration..Other trick is to reverse the coil, so the long end is towards you...I have a battery pack under the arm rest, so that tends to balance things out..
