Question on chest mounting the control box

I have recently discovered the joy of chest mounting the GT. How do you that chest mount take the stress off the cable at the control box with the standard bag that comes with the unit? Another question, I got the unit awhile back and there is a little black piece that came in the box and I have no idea what its for it looks like a kind of V shaped thing and it seems to be metal any ideas?

The V shape thing is the ground rest, it goes were the control box used to go on a rear mount detector.

Dont know about the box cover, sorry

To take the stress off of the cable you are supposed to loop the cable twice through the belt loop on the bag and then make your connection to the control box. Can't say that I like the method because I sometimes wish I had some of that cable available for swinging.
