Question on charging

Ok I have a question on the charging I had a long hunt last week and my coil was down to two bars and so today I thought I would top everything up before going out this week so I hooked up the coil and remote and headphones to charge. After three hours the coil light was blinking which indicates full charge. I took it outside and turned it on and the remote showed full charge but coil still only indicated two bars. So I put just the coil on charge again and the solid light did not come on the coil just shown the blinking indicating standby mode. I am on 3.2 not ready to go to v4 yet.

Can you just charge coil by itself? I could not think of a reason why not. I was certain the clip was making good contact and if it was not why would it show it was in charge mode. Am I missing something.

Yes you can charge the coil by itself. Does the coil register 2 bars on the headphones also? If so
could be battery in coil?I have coils that are 4-5 years old and batteries still holds the charge,
they must be due soon but still good now.
