I am currently using a whites mxt and xlt user but i want something that can go under water. i have used my detectors in the water but am limited on far in i can go i need some feed back on freshwater detecting with because in hot summers when everything is grown up im limited to hunting farm fields

You couldn't ask for a better machine than the AT-Pro for that type of hunting!!!

Yeah, if you are looking for a very comfortable way to spend a hot afternoon detecting, then this is it! Just sort of lollygagging along in neck deep water digging signals is good for you!

I'll be in the cool water on the hot days this summer for sure! The AT-Pro goes everywhere and does a great job. HH. Matt

works great in the water and i am sure you would like it hunting farm fields it is a great all around machine.

As a V3i user, I also was looking to get me a "fresh water" detector. I had the opportunity last summer to find a lost ring in the water and unfortunately didn't have a waterproof detector. Someone suggested the AT Pro, a little research, read up on the results people were having, watched some Garrett training videos and got one. It is a detector I enjoy very much. I've found it also has good use as a land detector. There is really no hype regarding this machine. You are absolutely correct in saying wading around with a detector in the cool water on a hot summer day is the way to go. C'mon summer!

Mine has been from dusty, rocky terrain looking for caches, to rivers, creeks, freshwater swim beaches, bounced on an ATV, fallen out of the truck, and even fell in a cowpatty once! It's still humming along and finding good stuff and staying waterproof..

Yep, only 10 ft. But how tall are you? Unless you have scuba gear your not going ten foot either. OK, maybe your one of those Pearl divers or sponge divers who can hold their breathe for a long time. But most of us aren't. I use mine at the saltwater beach frequently and don't go more than knee deep. The surf is too rough for me, and I find swinging the coil in water too much work. I have found a few coins in shallow saltwater. One at 6 inches deep in the sand under 3 inches of water. I also have detected bits of metal too small for my Pro Pointer to find.

I found several coins in saltwater as deep as 6 inches deep in the sand. Surprised me. Can't tell you how many times I've read the ATP won't work in saltwater.....
