I have been hunting two farmsteads, both from 1790. I found the key type relic at the top of the picture under a shoe box sized rock in the middle of a field. I was thrown by the signal because of the large rock, but at 12-47 I also had that feeling of large silver. I dug a plug and 3" down was the rock, signal still dead center. Exploring the rock, I found it to be getting bigger and bigger. Finally, with the "unknown" getting the better of me I found the edge of the rock and pulled it up, stuck the probe underneath and got the signal, and pulled out the relic. I think it is brass and looks like it gets set into wood on a wagon or hitch or something.
Anyone have any idea what the military pin is from? I tried quick to find it online but didn't. It is silver filled and was down about 3" in a field, read 12-46.
Some other relics included a small round decorative box with a top(lower left of picture), a couple of colonial buttons, buckles, and some other whatsits. No good coins yet.
