Question: Is the Alamo haunted? ..................

Kelley (Texas)

New member
I found this on the Internet this morning while doing some research of early San Antonio. I found it interesting and thought that some of you folks would enjoy reading it too.

After reading this story, I reflected back to an incident that happened to me a few years ago. Early one Sunday morning, I was taking some pictures of an area near downtown San Antonio where it was rumored that some of the Alamo defenders were originally buried. Of all the many pictures that I had taken that morning, two were taken of this site. When I came home and edited all the pictures, these two were hazy blank pictures...nothing but a hazy appearance to them. I really did not think much of it at the time because I had to go back and take some more pictures the following week and I thought to myself that I would just take them again, but be more careful of the camera settings next time. Next week rolled around and I returned to the area to take a few more pictures. Guess what, after I came home and edited the new series of pictures, including the new pictures taken of the suspected burial site, it was the same as the prior week...the pictures of the suspected burial site were blank with an hazy appearance to them. While puzzled, I just thought that I was doing something wrong with the settings of camera while taking these pictures, just the luck of the draw. After reading the story I found on the Internet this morning, I wonder if I had indeed had the wrong settings on the camera when photographing this suspected burial site...strange!

I hope that you folks enjoy the link that I am providing. The story is two pages long and will take you a few minutes to read it, but well worth the time. Is the Alamo haunted, I really have no way of knowing, but the story will make you pause and think about it. Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas) :)

there are certainly things that happen that makes you go, Hummmmmmmm???

This just happened to be one of those things! The article about the Alamo was interesting, but I am still not convinced that it is haunted. Say, thanks for taking the time to read the story and posting a response, So few read or respond anymore. Kelley (Texas) :)

This may sound contradictory but I don't believe in ghosts, but I don't not believe in ghosts either. If it were me, I would go back one more time with a couple of different cameras just to concentrate on getting those photos right. I would need to know one way or another if there was some kind of weird stuff going on. That was a great story you linked to your post. Stuff like that really does make you go hmmmmm ...

I don't believe in them at all but if someone is convinced they saw one, who am I to tell the goofy sucker he is nuts? :D Of course I have seen a thing or two on occasion that didn't make sense to me so I just kept them to myself.

believe that there is such a thing. That being said, If I am in an area that folks claim is haunted, I will be nice just in case there is such a thing as a ghost...don't want one pizzed at me. Kelley (Texas) :)

We have had experience with ghosts..... so the fact that the Alamo had such a violent climax makes me think that it most certainly could be haunted.

My problem is that I have never actually seen a ghost as per se. I have seen some strange things, but never laid eyes on a real ghost. I guess that I just can't comprehend the fact that maybe there are things like ghost in this world, and I know little about the subject. This will give me something to think about. So, from personal experience, I feel that it is entirely plausible that the Alamo is haunted.

type in Alamo ghost it has a lot of video clips are things on the Alamo ghost.
I've seen what I'm pretty sure was one, it effected me enough that I still look there every time I come by it, day or night...
My mind playing tricks on me, possibly, some one playing tricks as this place is noted for their ghost, possible also.
I'm, not willing to rule out either one... With the history of the Alamo, if they exist, its sure a likely place for them to show up.

We had a ranch we leased for 27 years, there was no doubt in any of are minds this place was haunted. Every body from old to young ones got the daylights scared out of them in that old rock house. The ranch had a long history to it, it had been lived on for at least since the 1840's. The owners wife killed herself, in one of the back bedrooms, she shot her self in the head with a shot gun in the 1940's. A lot of history on the place, graves in the pastors, and even kids buried behind the house in unmarked graves before the turn of the century. I loved the place, but a lot of creepy stuff happened to way to many non believers to make them believers. I never saw a ghost but the presents was felt. We all had radios turn on by themselves, lights turn on in the middle of the night. Even my first Chow dog even got the crap scared out of him when I was in High school. It was an old big rock house on top of a hill, in the middle of no where. We had a couple working up there painting and doing odd jobs, they split in the middle of the night and didn't even to bother to gather there things. After about two months they called and told my grandfather what had happen, and where to send there last check. She and him both saw and went though the doors slamming and lights coming on and off. You can call me crazy but like I said way to many people experienced the place. No one in the family would talk about it for a long time but when we started too every one of use had seen things we can't explain. The doors all slamming in a roll and though out the whole house was the thing I didn't like. Are the light to keep coming on in the middle of the night. It had a full swinging door going into the kitchen every time you would hear that door start swigging the rest would follow. I spent many nights in that house by myself most of them no problem, but when it started it would give you the creeps. I am in no way scared of the dark, spending the night out in the Field camping, heck spiders scare me worst than a ghost would. But that house is the only place I ever saw that did scare the crap out of me. I do believe that in some places maybe people loved or an uncertain death happens it might keep the past hanging around, to warn others this is there resting place. There a lot more to this story, but this is just a few things that happened to a few of us. One of the things I always got a kick out of was finding Xmas tree ornaments in your coat pocket, we always blamed it on rats, but never found rat droppings the pockets. We would spend all Christmas an holidays there when we were kids, all the cousins and family. I think all my cousins will say the same thing it was the happiest years of there life spent going up there. We had horses, 6 stock tanks and 3200 acres to go crazy on, with a river running though the place. I would take the little bad for all the fun I had growing up there.

Fred I liked the story, I always feel that I stand on holy ground when I go to the Alamo. I been there many times. I always think about what was going though the mind of the defenders know they were in a death trap. To few men in such a large area to defend. Ghost in the Alamo grounds I wouldn't be surprised a bit from what I've seen and went though some years back.

or with people all around me just in case it decided to do some bodily harm. I have been in places before when a cold chill would go up my back, or a cold gust of wind would blow on me when it was 100 degrees outside. I have witnessed all types of strange things, but I have never seen a ghost. Later tonight when the dust settles, I may spend some time on the Internet researching the subject of ghost. Bayrat, I loved your story, found it to be most interesting. Kelley (Texas) :)

Haunted, eh? The question I see is not whether it's haunted or not, but how in heaven's name did that ghost know what setting to put your camera on without the book??? BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Everything is speculation on this subject. I have no way of knowing if the suspected burial site is haunted or not. Do you have any information to add to the subject? Kelley (Texas)
