Question for you F 5 swingers.

What kind of in the ground depth are you all getting with the F 5? Or, to put it another way, what is your deepest coin recovery thus far? Thanks in advance for your replies. HH jim tn

I haven't gone deep turf hunting with mine yet  Coke can at about a foot, a bus token at around 6" is the deepest I've seen so far in sand. I'll have to plan turf hunt for next week and see what there is to see.

Six inch dime in my test garden. Five inches the deepest in the wild, but it was loud and clear, so I know it will go deeper.

keep on diggin'

Thanks guys for your replies. I am in the market for a companion detector for my F 75 and had pretty much decided on the F 70, which would give me three coils to use between the two. The F 5, however, was sounding pretty good and is several bucks less, plus a different frequency. I have a couple of sites, though, that yield some deep silver occasionally (7-10" for dimes) and was wondering if the F 5 would hit dimes in the 7-8" depth rqnge. Thanks again. HH jim tn

I would not count on it going that deep on a dime. Maybe in ideal soil conditions and even then the ID would probably be jumping around.....

If your soil isn't too bad I think you would be able to get a dime at 7-8" with the F5.

Got my first F5 silver Xmas night, it was a 57-D Rosie 6" down.

It didn't hit strong, but it wasn't faint either and hit from both directions. I think it could have picked up another inch or two down. No doubt more than that in AM.

The FE3O4 meter was running at two bars so it wasn't high mineralization. If I remember correctly, I was running the threshold about +1 or 2 and the gain at about 60 or 65. Discrimination at 25.

I wasn't wearing headphones either because I was helping my nephew most of the time since he had just gotten a new detector, and helping my niece who was using my Compadre. In fact the Rosie was one of only two targets I hit, the other being a beaver tail.

I noticed that my several swings over the target were mostly reading in the zinc low 60's range despite the target being silver. The pinpoint depth ID'd it correctly at 6"

isn't to bad over all. I really am more concerned with having good target separation then with depth, but I would like to know that decent depth is there when needed. Congratulations on your first silver with your F 5. HH jim tn

Thanks, Jim.

The target separation is excellent with the stock 5X10 coil.

Still it would be nice if Fisher would add to the unit's flexibility and bring out some other coils.

I've read some folks are using a Bounty Hunter 4", but a couple people said you only get about half the depth compared to the stock coil.

Useable in ground depth relative to my ground conditions. All the information is right in front of you. Most excellent.
