question for ya

If the detectors with higher khz are more sensitive to low conductive metals such as gold, brass, lead, etc., why is that the 1266 and 1270 with much lower khz are so good at finding those targets (deep ones too)?

5 khz or 17 khz, not much difference at all. Gold detectors can be as high as 100 khz.

I think its has to do with how they are set up inside. some even tho high freq. are good for gold etc some are more powerful and can get high or low conductors even being high freq. machines. There are a few like that but most do the high or low freq making you think they are better for different buried items. After detecting 42 yrs and being a multiline dealer for over 20 yrs I find that today still some low freq detectors still hit hard on gold and silver and small stuff where the high end (ML) doesn't see things as well.Try a chain and see what detector WILL pick it up.and which ones WON'T It will surprise ya. Thats why if you are a coin and jewelry hustler you have to see which ones will do the trick and which ones DON'T jmho. shortribs rwdmo
