Question for Xterra users

I am thinking real hard about purchasing an Xterra 705. I would like to know how much of a lag there is in the target signal when you pass over a target. Is this unit comparable to a Garrett 1500, Minelab Explorer 2, Fisher CZ, Tesoro Deleon etc... I'm just trying to get a feel for the unit before buying ( I'm sure it isn't like the new F-series they're almost too fast). I really want one of these detectors but I just need a little info. I really like the fact that it can do almost everything as long as you buy the right coil. Also depth wise which unit is it most comparable to ( I've never seen one first hand so I don't have a clue). Is it average, above average, below average for in ground targets. Also how do the tones sound (like the other Minelabs flutey, like the CZ's 3 and 4 tones, Whites tone ID machines etc...

With my experience hunting side by side with an XS II most every weekend. I would say it comes real close to the same depth and sensitivity AND swing speed might be a little faster. As far as lag, as you put it. Yes, if you swing too fast the audible signal is delayed. Also the digital readout will be lower the deeper the target but the tones are there. Pull a plug and your readout will lock in. I've used Explorers as long as they've been out and switched to the 70 about 3 years ago. finally had confidence enough in the 70 to sell my SE..
I am very comfortable with this machine and have found many many good things with it. Including 31 large coppers in a stag stop. Most of which were 10 + inches using the 10.5" DD. Awesome machine once you learn its little quarks.

One good thing about the newer generations of detectors is you have a choice on # of tones, for the XT70, 2,3,4 or multitone. The 70 is easy to use in 2,3 or 4 tone modes, I assume the 705 will be similar.
The Xterras do have a slight lag time but I have found if the area is devoid of signals then can swept faster. The time to slow down is when there are a lot of targets close to each other.
As far as depth goes, my XT70 is as deep as any other single frq. detector that I have used though I haven't used many of the newer ones put out over the past few years.
And with the 6" DD coil mounted on does very well in making finds in iron trashy areas-if one has the patience and goes slow.
