question for those who use the sniper coil

when in tot lots just how close can you get to the metal playground equipment with the sniper coil? Do you need to turn down the sensitivity at all to get close?

This is what the Ace is really hot at doing. Although it sounds counter intuitive, you will get better results by cranking up the sensitivity to the max.
As some poles can give off the same signal, you need to pay close attention to the depth metre to indicate the presence of another target.
The main game of getting in close with the sniper coil, comes by hunting with the pinpoint button held in! The main reason is that it doesn't give off a signal above the coil, and next to no signal down it's sides. I have found coins with the coil in direct contact with the metal above. The trick to getting in close to upright poles though, comes from tilting the coil ever so slightly away from the pole. As the signal is only picked up from directly below the coil, it takes very little angle to tilt it away enough to no longer pick up the pole, but here targets VERY close to them.
On the down side, you have no discrimination, but on the up side, you will find targets that most other detectors have got no chance of reaching.

When I said that you need to pay close attention to it, I was talking about looking for a double hit. If it is bouncing between 2 depths, then it a good indicator of a target that is not the pole there.
