Question for those who have made their own carbon shafts for the Sov

Neil

Well-known member
Can the carbon shaft be riveted without damaging it? I have one and wonder if the control box clip can be riveted on that rod like you can an aluminum rod?

Neil, it is best not to rivet the carbon fibre tube. The rivet will put the tubing in a state of compression and will wear the tubing and or crack it. Here's a tip...Put an insert into the tube which is threaded. Use a small size socket flat head machine screw like a #6, 8, or 10 that goes through your clip and screws into the insert inside your shaft. We do this all the time with 100% success...Pete

Thanks Pete, that sure sounds like great advice.
