Question for those of you that have used both

I relic hunt with the t2se and t2se dst. But I'm itching to add another detector to my little arsenal. I'm thinking most of you are familiar with that feeling. Everything I've seen, read, and heard about the Racer unit has got me on the verge of ordering one. I've had several other detectors since my original purchase of the t2 and ended up parting with them because I found that with the right settings, reducing the power, etc. on the t2 I could duplicate the performance of the other machines. But the Racer, from what it seems, may be a whole different animal. Can any of you folks give an old school fart some input here before I spend the cash on another detector and have to spend the next month sleeping on the couch
Bill :help:

My disclaimer, I haven't ran a T2. However hunted for many many hours with the CoRe behind my hunting buddies one of which is a superb T2 detectorist. The CoRe found so much stuff/good targets that the T2 did not see it was absurd. The Racer is essentially a CoRe in a different package just the gain is higher on the Racer. You put the small coil on either Turkish machine and they stand alone at the top in unmasking ability.

Thanks for the response Jack. Really appreciate it.

I had a new T2 LTD2 that I got in January. Fantastic machine. I also had a new Janary serial # F75 LTD2, which I personally liked a bit better (just has more options and the boost process isn't stuck in 2-tone mode). I've been using the F75 LTD since 2009, and now the LTD2. Then I decided to try a Racer when they came out. My F75 has been collecting a bit of dust since I picked up my Racer. I sold my T2 becuase it was too similar to the F75, and it didn't make sense to have two machines so similar. If you search for my older posts on the Makro forum, you'll see I did a lot of head to head testing with the Racer against the F75, and the results were astonishing.

I won't get rid of my F75 LTD2, I still feel it's a great machine, and it's a deeper machine then the Racer, but the Racer is simply able to see targets that the F75 does not, same size coil, simlar settings, hunting at the same time, and the Racer, in my tests, trumped the F75. It was an eye opener as to how much the F75 missed, and it wasn't all deep, that the Racer was able to sniff out. Not all five start four way signals, but targets the F75 either called iron or never sounded off on at all. I feel the results would be similar with the Racer vs the T2. I feel that for sites you want to clean out, that the F75 LTD2 and Racer combo will do the job, but if I had to only pick one machine, I would probably go with the Racer, it's that good IMHO.

Hope that helps,
Brian

Cal_Cobra, I agree 100%. Also had the F75 Ltd 2 but I wasn't using it as the Racer works so well for the sites I like to hunt. Sold the F75 and have bought a second Racer just so I don't have to change back and forth between the 5" OOR coil and the 5"x 10" coil.

Thanks so much Brian & Cal, had just about given up on receiving any more responses to my post. I think more than likely I'll order myself the Racer. You guys pretty much pushed me over the fence.Think this machine will fill the void. But expect a pm from me if I end up having to sleep on the couch.

You know you could've saved some money by buying a second lower rod and left the second coil mounted there for a quick 30 second swap - :poke:

I wish I'd been quicker on the trigger when that Racer Pro Pack came up for $375...good lord, if you want to give them away, I'll take two

Just make sure to get the Pro Pack....that little 5" OOR coil is worth it's weight in gold!

I have 3 OOR coils with lower rods but a 30 second swap is 30 seconds not detecting! :bouncy:
