question for the guys with Minelab SE detectors

I order my detector Firday. I was thinking of put the Sun Ray on it. Is this a good or bad idea?
 
I have the Quattro..... sister to the Explorer......I have the SunRay probe mounted on it and it just gets in the way. I also put a 12" SunRay coil on it.......at it works great.....better than the stock coil.
 
the probe itself is waterproof but not the control box, and having it mounted right on the shaft I think is a dumb way to do it.
 
I don't know what kind of hunting you will be doing but get used to your machine and then if you feel the need for a probe, get one afterwards. Minelab makes some awesome machines that are very good in the pinpoint mode........you may not need a probe.
