question for the big pi manufacturers

just wondered why detector manufacturers, such as garratt, whites etc , don't make the top pi machines , available in a non underwater format, much cheaper to make and lighter weight. also easier to repair. there must be a large market for beachcombers , who just hit the wet sand , not water hunting:ukflag::thumbup:

Garrett and white's do make them, the Infinium was mainly designed for gold prospecting first and beach/underwater detecting second, though imo it's better the other way around.
White's have the TDI.

Other manufacturers find it hard to compete with Minelab, because they have actually bothered to make detectors that can handle Australian conditions and get depth at the same time. I think in most cases, manufacturers have themselves to blame.
