I have a 1981 quarter that appears to be silver. Question; when did Canada switch to clad.. is this coin clad? thanks

Sonny,
Your quarter is not silver .Last year for silver was 1968 .That year some where 50% silver and the balance the usual 80%.Yours is nckel .In 2001 the mint again switched ,this time to Multi Ply Plated steel.there is a thin coating of nickel , then copper , then nickel. again on a steel core .They register 12 or iron on the F70,F75 but there are tricks you can use to find them .
