Question for MXT Pro users

One of the reasons for the pro version was the 7 tones. Most MXT users seem to hunt in relic mode, do you MXT Pro users hunt in Coin and Jewelry to use the 7 tones feature or relic mode and ignore the tones feature? If so, why?

[size=large]i've been learning the relic mode. it supposedly gives a little more depth. i do run on cj mode from time to time. really like the tones. relic most of the time so far but i've only ad it for two months and been down a few weeks because of hand surgery so not got what i would call a lot of experience with it.

I hunt relic mode in about every situation. I don't use the multi tone much. I hardly ever hunt in C& J. I turn my thresh-hold to a slight hum and just listen to the beeps or breaks in thresh-hold. The 7 tones seem like to much to listen to. I listen for the beep to break up or not hit the same either way. the tone difference just bothers my concentration. In the elic field Im just looking for a repeatable signal and I dig. In the old house sites I watch my ID and listen at each beep. Butt one of my buddys runs the C%J all the time. He thinks it is a little deeper. I dont.:detecting:

Interesting observation gambler13. I too run my MXT Pro in relic mode (1 tone) most of the time. I used to run my standard MXT in Relic/alternate mode (trigger forward) exclusively. When I got the Pro the tones were just confusing me for the most part, like leebowhunts, and my nickel count dropped off completely. I decided to run it in 1-tone relic mode (identical to relic/alternate mode on std. MXT) since I was so familiar with it and occasionally flip between the two to compare the signals/sounds and it has helped me to become more familiar and effective with the C&J/tones. I look to hunt older sites primarily and the fun relic finds always far outweigh the coin finds (duh) and I hunt in Relic/1-tone primarily so it's easier to compare signal characterisics across the entire + VDI range. Sometimes you can get TOO MUCH information to analyze. I do hunt C&J/tones on if I'm trying to cherry-pick coins and sometimes in newer areas. I am getting more adept at picking out nickel signals with C&J/tones on but I'm sure i'm missing some when I do so I will be hunting mostly in Relic/1-tone for awhile at least . . .I love my nickels.
