Question for Monte

Hi Monte, I have a question for you and you may have answered it before. With your vast knowledge of detectors and their functions which detector do you prefer when you are out and about. HH Dennis in Idaho

Not that it was important, I was just curious. HH Dennis in Idaho

Monte has discussed this at various times and from various angles. A good trick for checking into his past comments is to click on "Search" at the top of a page, and type in "Monte MXT" or "Monte XL Pro" and the system somehow digs up a bunch of past references. I never tried "Monte favorites" but it might produce ... who knows. :smoke:

Pardon the delay. Still getting caught up on a backlog of mail, working and gone most of yesterday (Friday) for an eye appointment and some detecting.

There are some makes and models that I hold in high regard:

White's
XLT
XL Pro
MXT
M6
IDX Pro
Classic III SL

Troy Custom
Shadow X5

Tesoro
Bandido (original)
Bandido II

Thanks for the reply Monte. I have read most of your posts and have copied some of them for future reference. I am sure when your book comes out all that information will be in it.
I appreciate you vast knowledge of detectors and you opinions, and most of all I appreciate the time you take to get the information out on the forums for all to read.
I have been evaluating a true 6"DD Excelerator coil for Kellyco. I am really pleased with its performance, depth, pinpointing, accuracy of VDI numbers and quietness of operation. As much as you like the 5" I think you will also like the 6" coil. I am sending you a photo of it if you have not already seen it. Disregard the label on it, as JW told me it was a factory error. The label is for the Minelab Exporer/Quattro coils. JW said that Kellyco will be making the coil available for everyone but did not say when. So many coils so little time.
I to am eager to get a small coil for my XT-70. I would like a 6"DD or even a 4.5x7 sized coil would be great. I guess all we can do it hope that Minelab will get one out for the detector, like yesterday. I would not go as far as to say that it would be better than the MXT but it might be comparable.
Well once again thanks for your response and good luck with your book. HH Dennis in Idaho

detectors had a good 6" coil available for them. Minelab messed up taking this long to get one to market!

I think the 6" will be the better coil, also, as it has a nice profile to it and I like the size.

Monte

PS: Thanks for the kind words.
