Monte------As I understand it--the FORS Relic is now your "top dog" primary use detector.
As described below, my
"Primary-Use" models are: The
Nokta FORS CoRe, FORS Relic, and
Makro Racer 2.
NOTE: The particular unit and coil outfit I grab is somewhat dependent upon the type of site I am hunting
(rural or urban), the type and amount of trash I have to contend with
(dense, moderate or sparse and primarily ferrous-based on non-ferrous stuff), and what I am mainly looking for
(Relic Hunting or just Coin & Jewelry Hunting).
So, of these three models shown
(the FORS CoRe & Relic, and Racer 2), and since I primarily look for and search ghost towns, homesteads and other non-urban sites that can often have
a lot of iron debris, the FORS Relic is
usually my #1 detector to be grabbed. In very dense iron, both rod-type
(like nails and wire) or sheet-type iron
(like roofing tin, tin cans, bottle cap type shapes), it will be the Relic w/round 5½" DD coil.
At times, depending upon how I feel at the time when I reach for a unit from the back seat, I might grab the Makro Racer 2 w/
'OOR' coil mounted. Sometimes it will be the 5½" DD.
The Racer 2 would be my first-grabbed detector in such heavily littered iron sites,
IF I only and a Racer 2 and some other brand model to choose from, or even if it was just a pick between my Nokta FORS CoRe and Makro Racer 2 ... again ...
IF I only had those two detectors.
We know that many people involved in this are just 'Hobbyists' and a bulk of them are only 'part-time' or 'occasional' or really 'infrequent' users of detectors. Perhaps available funds to invest in this hobby are tight or might cut in on a different hobby someone has? For many reasons, typical hobbyists have but one, maybe two, detectors. Then there are those who have a bit more tome and/or money, and/or effort and dedication to the sport,
as more Avid Detectorists, such that they own two, three, or some greater number of detectors, in which case they will have more preferred models to pick from or favor over the others.

What factor(s) influenced you to choose/pick it over the Racer 2?
To answer this question, let me continue from where I was headed in my last response and I'll refer you to 'Oregon Gregg' and his current detector battery. Now, but three years into this great sport, his current arsenal which swelled early on has now confined itself to the following:
A White's M6 and a few coils which served him pretty well for most of that time, but is now more-or-less a keepsake for memories of times well spent afield.
A Tesoro Bandido II µMAX w/6" Concentric coil because he was somehow influenced or encouraged to have one of these workhorse units in his detector battery by ????
An 'original' Makro Racer which he acquired with a pre-release order, if I recall, that has rewarded him with many valuable and exciting coins, tokens and artifacts for almost 14 months and has proven itself and it's abilities.
A Nokta FORS CoRe that finally stuck him as a remarkable detector that is exceptionally well balanced as of last November 7th & 14th and has been, and is, a pleasure to use.
And a Racer 2 which he also acquired immediately after their introduction was announced, and which is a model I am sure he doesn't want to release from his control, either.
Here Gregg has the most recent Racer series model, and it's much newer than his FORS CoRe, but only he can tell you which one he personally considers as his 'first pick' preferred model. I know from spending time with him often that he does grab the Racer 2 often, but
I seem to feel the FORS CoRe would be his favored unit of the two, even though it lacks some of the newer adjustment functions found on the Racer 2 like Iron Audio Volume, Tone Break and more.
We each have our own personal likes and dislikes, so I guess some of the reasons I tend to favor the Relic over the Racer 2, which share more newer adjustment features, are:
• The physical package and comfortable balance.
• The option of having one use the 5½X10
Concentric coil.
• The 19 kHz operating frequency.
• Exceptional unmasking abilities.

Say for use in an old trashy area (i.e. ghost town)----your FORS Relic is your "first grab" now-a-days---right?-----Why is this (over the Racer 2)?
As I gave in examples, either one of them will perform admirably for hunting in a trashy environment, and they both provide very good depth and ability to unmask targets. But for me, and in ghost towns and similar places, I just have a comfortable 'fit' between the FORS series models, and the Relic' added features are handy for dense iron.
I use all my models for Coin & Jewelry Hunting, but in this case, I have a 'preference' for the Makro Racer 2 as my #1 or 'Primary-Use' detector for those assignments.
I hope this long but thought-out reply is a good answer for you.
