Question for Monte or others on Tesoro Inca

Thinking about buying a Tesoro Inca, was wondering what kind of unit it is, and how does the depth compare to the newer units? Any info would be appreciated.

have mine and will not part with it. As for depth, I would say plenty deep.Years ago I put it up against my buddy's old 1265 and was only a hair. if that much, less in depth on a 1/2 dime. I forget the inches. That is respectable depth,I would think in most folks opinion..The 1265 was a real hog on depth and still is for some, their main machine. With the Man. Ground Balance on the Inca it will inhance performance of any of the Tesoro coils that can be used on it and I especially like the Depth Meter. Mine proved to read about an inch less than actual depth, which was no real problem and what I really like about the depth meter is that you can go for the deeper readings when wanting to get below the newer stuff..

Like many earlier Tesoro offerings, there was a little bit of 'Hot & Cold' in their production runs. Generally, however, they were pretty decent. When they were first released I quickly latched onto one and started a Tesoro Dealership. I was living in Utah at the time, and some of y fiends had purchased the Fisher 1260-X. The 1260-X, like many Fishers', had the ability to hunt reasonably deep, and it was the fist of the slow-motion detectors. But also like all the 'X' series that followed, the Fisher's were noisy in iron trash as their discrimination left a lot to be desired.

Tesoro's slow-motion, 2-filter entry, the Inca, was a solid performer in iron trash. At the minimum discriminate setting the Inca can do quite well in most junky sites, and the quick response they are famous for proved to be a winner for me, and others, as we were able to pluck a lot of great old coins and trade tokens out of ghost towns, renovation sites, vacant lots where buildings had been torn down long ago, and other good potential sites.

For me, and my closer hunting buddies, the key was using the 7" coil on the Inca as it balanced well, got decent depth, and working in and around brush and trash well.

I just saw the one listed on the 'bay' site when I looked for an old Eldorado that was there a day or two ago., The original; Eldorado is gone and that was an oldie I was looking to bid on. Maybe they pulled it and sold it separately?

If you buy an Inca, get a 7" coil,, run the Sensitivity high and Discrimination at minimum an enjoy the hunt! :)
