Question for Monte, or othere...

Jeff in MI

Monte, I value your opinion very much.
I have an MXT, which I love. However, when I go for casual coin hunting with friends, it

I feel your pain with the volume issue. When my MXT sounds off in a real quiet area you almost jump. I wouldn't mind a second detector myself but if you're looking at one just for volume control, here's how I dealt with it. I went to Circuit City and got a set of the small lightweight phones with the wrap around mic for the computer. This particular set by Plantronics(was about $12) has an inline volume control. I didn't like the mic so I just disconnected it from the headset and cut the jack off the other end...there are two jacks on this pair...one for talking and one for hearing. The jack itself is the small type but for another buck or so, I got the quarter to eighth inch adaptor. The sponge ear pieces don't bother me at all in the heat and the sound doesn't blow my brains out either. That's just my 2 cents worth for ya.

You have an MXT and looking for a casual coin hunter and your choices are a CZ5 or a Vaquero.
The CZ 5 is by far the better casual coinshooter of the two just based on TID, the Vaquero is listed as a Relic hunter. I have an M6 and it's most likely a better casual coinshooter than the MXT due to the tone ID.

In my opinion, other casual coinshooters would be an IDX Pro, Ace250,Golden U Max,X Terra 50, Fisher Excell although any of them can be serious detectors.

One of my favorite non TID detectors is a Minelab Advantage as it just seems to connect an audio language that i understand , goes very deep and relatively inexpensive.
Just my humble opinion for what it's worth. HH Bill
