Thanks for the advice on the factory presets! Went out today and was like a different detector. i was using to much discrim. and not enough sensitivity.I'm now hunting in IM and i like it. Back to finding relics again. Now for part 2.
Any advice on the Recovery ,Fast and Deep? Could you explain just what these 2 settings actually do?
Thanks
Chuck

Hey Chuck,
I don't know 100% what exactly those settings do. But I think that the FAST settings controls how much time your signal processor spends working on the signal. If you have FAST highlighted, the machine gives you a fast response and then gets ready for the next signal real fast too. This helps you when you get into trashy areas because the machine is less likely to be caught in the middle of working on a signal right when you pass over another target which would cause the machine to miss the 2nd target. But if you do not have FAST highlighted, the machine spends more time developing a more full-bodied signal.
Deep, I'm not real sure. I suspect that with DEEP on, the machine may amplify certain faint component parts of the signal so that you can hear them better.
I never mess with them. I just have them set on FAST ON, DEEP ON, all of the time just because that's the way Mike Moutray's settings suggest. I also don't like to change those settings because changing them makes the signals sound different which confuses me. I just like to have my machine react to targets the same all the time so I know what I am listening to.
