James, You seem to find a lot of keepers in the low conductive {nickle} range. Would you like to share your thoughts on when to dig? Do you dig everything past a certain depth?
If so, I would be interested to see a picture of the trash you dig on a average weekend. The areas I hunt , I can get a low tone on every swing and I know some of those are good targets,
But it seems the ones I decide to dig are almost always aluminum trash. Ive tried just digging the 10-5 to 11-7 range, where most nickles will air test, and thats when I find the most trash.I have found a few old nickles but cant seem to get a pattern of sound or curser movement that makes any sense. Any tips or advice you could share would be great. I enjoy reading your posts.
Im from cental wisconsin but have relatives around Bismark, so if you would like to adopt me for a weekend let me know.

This last time out, and the reason I did so well on the Nickels was due to being at a Country Church. I did find a few Rusty Crown Caps and a few Beaver Tails as well so I also dig a lot of Trash looking for them stubborn Nickels. For some reason, I decided to investigate a 4 on Digital that was about half-way down the Depth Meter (since I have found Nickels on edge that read 4) to see if I could get lucky and nab an Old Nickel. As suspected, it turned out to be a Nickel and it was in the 8" Range when found. Some would bounce from 4 to 5 on Digital so what I looked at was the Depth Meter. If the Target was around 6" Deep or half-way down the Depth Meter, I was diggin'! Now at a normal site say a Park, the chances become greater in digging more Junk than a Nickel and most of the time I just don't stop to investigate all them Low Conductors because let's face it....some of these sites we all hunt are just loaded with them and it would take forever in a day to go through all them Signals just to try and locate a Nickel which is also a reason why there is so many still waiting to be found. Digging a 10-5 on an Explorer II,Se,Se Pro would be the one's to go for if I remember right since Tim had both of these machines and I think that is what he said they came in at, just not sure on the Ferrous Content. Sometimes when I think I finally got the hang of them Nickel Sounds, then it's gone so your not the only one here with that problem. Main thing to look for though is if it is 6" or Deeper, then it's worth going for it!

As for the amount of Trash I dig in a weekend, that will depend on the site as well. Some days, I will dig around 50+ (if not more) Junk Targets and they will range from Copper Wire, Screw Caps, Bottle Caps, Aluminum (you name it), even some Lead and also Brass Targets. Anything that sounds good I'm digging. I would post a pic of all the Junk dug in a weekend but I don't have a Digital Camera and only have a Flat Bed Scanner. I can try it after this weekend and see if I can squeeze all that Junk onto it but I'm sure I won't get it all on there for your viewing. Also, I haven't gone out for a day and pursued only Nickels before so this number would drastically climb due to all the Trash Targets in the ground.

As for adopting you for a weekend. I'm not sure how well we would do in the Bismarck area. I know some of the Parks had some stuff in them but not sure what they are like now since it's been over a year now since I visited. I won't know what's going on until tomorrow night but if I have an opening, I will PM you. Are you in Bismarck right now? I do have a spot that has Nickels still in it but it would be a bit of a drive from Bismarck but not too bad. We'll see what happens tomorrow. Hope this helped and Good Luck and HH to you.

Just remember the invite is always open if your in the area and I have the time. Hope you get out this weekend and get some Silver! Good Luck and HH!
