Question for fresh water hunters

After I have used my AT-Pro in the water I like to take the rods apart and wipe the water and sand off them. I'm finding that it is almost impossible to separate the rods. It's almost like the water fuses the rods together. There are times when I want to change coils and I have not been able to take the lower rods apart ( all my coils have their own lower rods ) Has anyone else had this problem or don't you take yours apart ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I coat my rods with car wax or armor all. Helps cut down on friction from sand and dirt and helps keep them from sticking to the rods. Seems to work ok.

What you are doing, washing the rods after each hunt is a very good routine to get into. And that fine grit that gets between the rods can almost weld them together. There have been a few times in the past where I had to soak the rods in hot water to separate them.

I don't try to separate my rods after each time in the water, but when I do, here's a trick that I have found that works for me, on other-than AT Pro detectors:
Next time you're ready to come out of the water, and while the shaft is still under water, press on the snap lock with one hand, and twist the stems;you should find that they let go with hardly any effort at all.
Works like a charm
