Question for AT Pro Users

Have a question for AT Pro users who mostly
hunt for coins and jewelry.

What is your favorite mode to hunt in ... Standard Mode, Pro Mode or Custom ??

What settings do you use?

Iron Settings? Notch?

I'm sure everyone's uses different settings but perhaps this discussion may
be helpful to someone like myself and others who are new to the AT Pro.

Thanks!

It depends on the site.
If it's really trashy (most of my in town sites), I use pro coins mode, sensitivity at max unless I'm getting chatter, then drop a bar or 2. Iron disc at default (35), again, if the site's loaded with iron, I may max iron disc. out.
If it's relatively clean, I use pro-zero and let my ears do the discrimination, same when relic hunting, Iron disc. as needed.
If I've been out for a while and my ears start going crazy, I've been known to notch out everything below dimes and max the Iron disc., and do a little cherry-picking. (of course- you'll miss most small gold in this mode).

I usually do an auto GB (almost always 91 around here) and then back it down about 10 points.

Some run in pro zero all the time & like to hear everything. That's a personal preference kind of thing, like some people dig everything over VDI 40. If I did that, I'd dig 5,000 tabs per site. No, thanks. I can usually skip the scratchy / squelchy 53 - 60s. If there's anything different about the sound, I dig it. I'm only running the standard 8.5 x 11 coil - I'll pick up some more coils when I can.

Luck in the Hunt!!

Everything that William stated is the way I do to the "T".

Pro/Zero 99% of the time ..

I usually hunt in pro-zero mode, but when I'm in a trashy area I will turn the sensitivity down so I'm only looking at the top most part of the soil and will toggle the iron audio on and off because it can get pretty noisy. I don't mess with the notching because I like to keep it consistent so I when it beeps, I know exactly where it is on the scale. I need to get the sniper coil because I don't mind taking my time as i am super methodical.

Ear phones, Pro zero, max sensitivity, 5 points down from auto GB, iron discrimination at 25, iron audio off until I find a high tone that repeats when I hit it from 90 degrees. Then I will turn on the iron audio, and try to figure out it it's gonna be a deep bottlecap. If it repeats at 90 degrees, even if it's a chirp high that changes to a mid, I'll dig it. Even if it has a small iron grunt on each side of the mid/high tone. About half the time that will be an Indian around 8 inches, at least in my area.

Don't forget to turn that iron audio back off, if you hunt trashy areas. It'll lull you into a trance. I quit when I walked out of my hunting area and found myself swingin' on the centerline of a busy state highway.

Pro Zero, Zero Discrim, Iron Audio OFF. With iron audio off and zero discrim you hear low/mid/high tones. I use headphones and I hear everything if I go slow. Have found alot of old coins in places where I used 25+ discrim the first time. I never use discrimination anymore. Oh an I use the 5x8 coil, it separates iron MUCH better.

I tried the 5X8 today and it does wonders in the park....your going to spend twice the time there hunting but the 8X11 just gets to be too big and everything sounds the same in high trash, i max out the iron discrimination and sensa two off top....its plenty good enough for 8" so works well and my clad count doubled today because it found the coins amongst the iron and didnt blank it out with the 8X11.

Wouldnt use it in the woods unless the tree count was high and not much room to manouver...
