Question for all of you Ecal experts...

Horsesoldier

New member
Can you over charge the battery and cause the detector to act erratically? I've had a few experiences where I may have left the batery on the charger for more than the recommend 12 -14 hrs. I've noticed a few times that my excal will not go into disc mode but operates as if it is in all metal. However, after a while it will eventually settle down and operate normally. It seems to only do this after an extended charge. I have two pods and they have both done it. Just wondering if it may be too much juice causing the circuit to run hot or something. After it "gets over it" then the excal runs as smooth as silk. Comments?

I would agree with you--have noticed the same thing--scarey in that you think you have toasted the bat. Seems to smooth out after about an hour of run time though.

Have not experienced that 1 Horsesoldier. My pods have been charging, since Wed. or Thurs., because I thought I might want to go for a spin. If there is even a remote chance that I will go, I put 'em on charge and leave 'em on, till they get loaded into the truck. I HATE premature discharge! I like to quit because I decided, not because my equipment says it's time to go home! Sorry I was not more help to you sir! GH

Talk to Sandy.....she is very helpful. She set me straight on a couple of battery issues. I wish they would come up with a better battery pod than the NiCad, I am looking to replace with a NiMH but so far no luck.

That's worse than 'tidus interruptus'.

At least that takes a few hours and is somewhat predictable.
