Question? First TX & Fisher

i know they quit making the CZ20. iv been told you cant get service or parts on them any longer.i know a guy that sent his in and they wanted $800 to repair it.if this is true, what about the life time warranty? does it mean nothing any longer? id like to buy a used CZ20 but i have a problem giving $800 for something i cant get fixed! so my next thought was a 1280X and i found some new with life time warranty,BUT if they don't honer the CZ20 life time warranty, how do i know they will honer the 1280X.?

is because the person that made the rubber cover for the pinpoint switch retired, and FRL / First Texas has yet to find a replacement supplier.

The 1280 is still being made because it does not have a pinpoint switch.

I'm hoping something changes soon, as I have a CZ-20, and I know that at one point, sooner or later, it will have to be fixed.

WOW! id just get rid of the pinpoint (that i never use).if they would just do that and come back out with the CZ20..that would be Awesome!

The lifetime warranty's are still in affect to any units that qualify, be it new ones, or those owned by original purchasers.

If you purchase a 1280, it will come with a lifetime warranty. Now let me just clarify, it's the 1280's still in stock in warehouses or dealers.

I have quite a few in stock, please contact me if I can be of help to you.

The CZ-20, like all of the CZ's, with the exception of the CZ-3D have been discontinued. This was done long before First Texas purchased Fisher.

I read about that supposable $800. repair bill, there's more to the story than what you wrote. The unit was a very old, used detector that was in real bad condition. That guy never had any warranty on it ever.

and that the new Texas Fishers will have a 5 year. Fisher users would have been up in arms otherwise.

If someone was quoted $800 clams to fix a CZ-20- then they obviously were not the original owner, or they messed with it to somehow void the warranty. Maybe they ran it over with a car, or drowned it? Just the hardwired coil & waterproof headphones are big bucks right there even before labor.

Don't let one rare case repair story of most likely an abused 1990's CZ-20 steer you away from a great detector. Broken CZ-20's are expensive to fix, but it's still the best built water unit of all time in my opinion.

:usaa:[/quote]that is just the problem.i want to buy a used CZ20.and that means NO warranty for me.and i have a hard time giving $700/$900 for a used one that i might have to put $$$ into for repairs.i do think they are the best water machine ever built .and if i could find one new today id buy it only if i could get a warranty.and that wont happen.so i guess il just settle for a 1280X until Fisher comes out with another CZ20!
