Question....Do You Prefer To Hunt Alone Or With Other(s)?

John, I personally prefer HUNTING with a Friend or Two, but most of the time I hunt alone!! Les Robinson

A good part of my hunting is in the woods, so I have a partner with 2-way radios. Came across 3 - bears and 2 - deer so far this year. :)

Finding a good hunting partner in any sport is tough...I hunt alone, but stay in touch with a couple other hunters via text as we try to motivate each other! If one of us finds something cool, we generally take a pic and text it to the other guys, give each other heads up on beach crowd and wave conditions, stuff like that.

I enjoy hunting with others and of late do hunt with them more often then not. I, however, have hunted alone pretty much for the 40 + years I've been with the hobby and find I still enjoy my own company, too. HH jim tn

I hunted alone from 1976 to 2004, then in 2005 I was detecting a wooded area about 2 miles from our campsite in alaska, I ran across a pack of wolves that had taken down a moose calf and they all looked up at me as I came out of the small clearing, I froze and realized my error because I had my headphone on and wasn't paying attention "STUPID!!" anyway all I had was a 12guage slung acrss my back, it had 5 shells(4slugs & 1 buckshot) 15-16 wolves, I started to think about climbing a tree but instead I walked bacwards never taking my eyes off the wolves, they never came after me and when I got a few hundred feet back into the woods I turned and ran fast as I could, I made it back to camp but I was very scared and kept looking all around untill I collapsed in the camp from exhaustion Whew!! I have never hunted/detected by myself again since even tho I am back in North Carolina, My son and I are hunting partners now and quite a competition lol

ihunt alone even in the woods feel safer in the woods wildlife more predictilble then most people been a hunter all my life being alone gives my freedom of choice where to go when to leave but at times it would be nice to share the adventure with a good friend i just don,t have none around so i go it alone

Enjoy the company of my Grandson and Son more than hunting alone which I do as well sometimes because they live a ways from me . But getting to share Our finds at the time of digging them is a lot more fun and besides that way we get to compete with each other on each hunt the looser has to buy Lunch or dinner

I prefer hunting with someone but my beady died about 18 months ago. Been going alone since then.
The good stuff is in the old parts of town, bad area. I don't go there now.

I do both alone and with friends. Just depends on the situation and location.

When I got into this in 1966, I never even saw or knew anyone else with a detector. Now days I enjoy hunting with someone else in town for the motivation. When I hunt in the mountains I usually carry a revolver because of cougars, wolves, and bears---and weird people!----Dan

I had a partner to hunt with last year, she moved so this year and the years before did it alone. Seems to be better alone as more area can be covered without stopping for chat breaks. Also once in the water generally it's a 2 or 3 hour go at a time. So much better alone.

I enjoy hunting with a partner, especially on land and I supply the 2way radios. If I'm going into the water I'm usually alone but welcome company so long as we are on the same "page". Water hunting to me takes a big commitment and timing (ocean). Like I've said - the best treasures are the lasting friendships we make!

Ran a detector in Nam 67-69. Either detected or probed that worked well. Just picked it up again last year, my daughter likes to go with me she is learning with me and she sometimes digs sometimes I do. Live in Pa in the Poconos lots of Bear around. Always carry a tomcat 32 in my pocket . Its the 2 legged animals I dont trust. Thanks for listening.

I guess I'm lucky to have some great hunting buddies all over the state. Sometimes 5 or 6 of us manage to meet up at some place and the hunt is on!! Most times though, it's just me and that's cool too!!

Either way if there is trust. I was stoked very badly in a partnership. I was open and gave him all my sites, tons of research info etc. It bit me in the rear later, big time. Right now I prefer to be on my own.

I prefer to hunt with a partner although I will go out once in a while by myself. I have had the same hunting partner for about 3 years now. It is very competitive but also a Lot of fun.

Meeting people with the same interests is one of the facets of this hobby that make it more interesting. My hunting partner and I laugh and joke ever day about some of the stupid crazy things we do and have done. That's called comradery, which this hobby really promotes. Look at this forum as an example. Sure beats sitting in the house all day.

Another advantage of a hunting partner is safety. Safety in numbers is important thevolder we get.

It's nice hunting with a friend or making a new friend while detecting. I like to hunt alone and be one with the machine. Either way it's a lot of fun.

I prefer to hunt alone, but there are times I wish I had somebody around in some of the spooky spots I end up in. The problem I have is I might plan a detecting trip and have to cancel due to my back or being my elderly Mama's only caretaker, I have to go to her if and when she needs me and I wouldn't want to leave somebody hanging due to my schedule or other reasons. Another thing I have noticed is some people give me permission with the stipulation that I hunt alone and don't bring anybody else with me. When you hunt alone, you decide what you want to do based on the heat or your health or any of a dozen other reasons and if someone else is with you, your time is not your own. I can talk myself in or out of most situations, but when you have another person to convince it's totally different.
