are county fairgrounds fair play to MD in or should I try to get permission first? We are close to 3 well used fairgrounds 2 with car/ motorcycle race tracks and 1 with horse races. One is also the site for the California State Fair held every year in late August. I want to detect these areas but dont know how about getting permission if it is even needed. Thanks in advance for any advice..:detecting:

I heard in Washington State (my State) you have to get permission, and many don't allow it...but I'm not positive on that. I like Cayenne's opinion. If open ...give it a shot, and play stupid if even needed!

In my area we have "Town" fairs. The local one is held evry year on private land. I called to ask permission and the owner got very rude. She told me they had a detector and were very capable of hunting the ground. I was not allowed to try it out, Beale.

I was told when I asked "if we let you do it everyone will want to" which sucks cause that would be a great place to look, we have had one in the same spot for over 100 years, although we also have our town firewoks in the same area, maybe I could get there early and detect then, it is a good month before they put up the fair stuff.

thats what i was thinking. get out there before the fair starts, well i emailed the fairground people asking if i could. havent heard back yet but its still early. im hoping they let me. its a county one. there are 2 county ones and the state one. they have been around for many years. keep your fingers crossed.

Perhaps some state, county sites have restrictions, but most are probably available to hunt and if so, old fairgrounds can be a bonanza. I'd go for it until I learned otherwise. HH jim tn

E-mail in business law cases have been deemed offical written correspondence. Additionally some new reqirements have been put in place to maintain e-mail records for businesses.

I hunt our local fairgrounds regularly. No problems to date. There aren't any restrictions in this county and State, but don't know about others. I do take pains to leave as little evidence that I was there as possible.

Hey Todd, what part of WA you from? I'm over here in Vancouver,WA. Grant

I sure wish I could hunt our State fairgrounds. The fairground goes why back in the 1800s. The only problem is they moved the fairgrounds and the fairground of the past is now a cemetery.
