Question-conductive vs ferrous

When I'm in the digital mode and I switch back and forth between conduct and ferrous audio I get the same number reading on a lot of targets. In other words on nickles I get a 6 or 7 reading in both modes, or on quarters and dimes I get a 28 reading in both conduct and ferrous. Pulltabs also come in about the same. The tones vary from one mode to the other but most numbers stay the same. Is this normal. Appreciate your help. HH- Coinshooter65

Yes it is normal. The digital mode displays only the conductivity of the target displayed as a number between 1 and 32. You will also see an icon that represents a probable target based on an average of conductivity and ferrous content (it's not very accurate). By switching between conduct and ferrous audio you are only switching the audio response not the display on the screen. targets will sound different by switching modes but the display will remain the same.

In other words you are saying that even though I'm in the ferrous mode the numbers on the digital screen are still showing conductive. I just want to make sure that I understand what you're telling me. Thanks a lot for your help, it's appreciated.HH- Coinshooter65

That is correct. No matter what you do the numbers will always be for conductivity. You can switch the audio response but not the digital screen.

Nimrods correct, the targets will always ID the same on the meter, whether in smart find or digital, the only thing that changes is audio ID, the thing I dont like about ferrous mode is bottle caps and tin give tones like silver
