Question.....can anyone give me some advice? My brother and I.....

took the old carpeting and padding out of my spare bedroom and the hardwood floor doesn't look too bad. Was a job though removing the carpet and the old padding, as it had crumbled and was sticking to the floor, so was hard to remove....but we gotter done with Orange Glo!! My question is now: because the closet and bedroom doors were cut to open and close over the carpeting....is there any way to fix the problem without buying new doors or recarpeting? There's about a two inch gap between bottom of doors (3) and floor!! I think I already know the answer but need some input on those who do their own work in the home!

God Bless!

You may be able to lower the whole door and jamb. This might make you have to get wider trim moulding that surrounds the door (or a least over the door), but might work. If there is not too wide of a gap above your door when you take the moulding off (that is over the door), you might be able to move the whole thing down with a little work(pulling nails, and re-shimming and nailing your frame, etc...) That's what I would do (but I'm not a carpenter) Good luck!

Just kidding! If you don't plan to put in ne flooring then you would probably have to lower the door like ID guy mentioned! Or but new doors.
Good to see ya ma! :)

They make a kick board type of thing to protect the botttom of doors from marks, screws on. Maybe look into it and get one to actually lengthen the door. I have one on my back door that's made of brass but they probably make them in hardwood also. Check at a lumber yard or Home Depot type place. steve in so az
