question about water detecting machine

Hello All. I was wondering if any of you have used the Eric Foster Goldquest Aquasearch v.2 beach and salt water pi detector. And what your thoughts are about it. How deep can it go and how good it is on coins and jewellery. At the moment I am using a sovereign XS with a wot 15 inch coil and have had good results with this set up. I can get down to around 12 to 14 inches on our $1 and $2. Coins with out to much trouble. These are Australian coins and I am looking for a unit that would go deeper on our coins and jewellery. Any advice would be welcome.

I am also interested in the Headhunter pulse series of detector and how would they fair against my set up at the moment. I am not going to use either unit with diving in mind. I just want a good beach and water machine in the pi range. How good is their discrimination although I dig all good sounding targets? Thank you for any help. Stan. From down under.

I understand that Eric Foster's PI machines are excellent pieces of equipment as well. I bought my PI off of the classified forum here about a year ago and I really like the unit. It hits really hard on both gold and silver rings. Last week I found a Childs silver ring, very small about a size 3 at about 10 inches. The Headhunter signal was sharp and strong, no doubt that there was something there. I also found 2 other gold and a silver ring as well as the usual handfull of clad. I'm sure that Eric's machine will have a slight depth advantage but for the money, my Headhunter has already paid for itself. I also like the Headhunter because all of the controls are in the earcup so you can swing the coil for hours and not get tired. The only thing that I'd wish they would work on is the fit of the headphones. They are not as tight a fit as I would like when you are in chest deep water. I had a Garret XL500 Pulse detector and I really liked the firm suction-like grip that they had on your head. Wish Headhunter would come up with something like that. Find someone that has one to try out and see what you think. HH therick

....and while you're at it, have Headhunter come up with good set of cordless phones! I'm tired of lugging the cable, wrapping it around my machine inadvertantly and tugging the left earpiece down. Technology is there but I haven't as yet seen. Help Headhunter! :rage:

The first foot of cable, starting at the headphones, should be spiraled like a telephone receiver cord. That way if you need a little extra stretch or length, the cord could give enough and then compress back into the shorter length you started with. I hope that makes sense. I use electrical tie wraps to secure the cable to the shaft and that helps eliminate some of the tangles but with a stronger head piece and the "Pigtail" from the ear cup, I'd be in heaven. therick
