Ok i have a whites idx a mxt a xlt a minelab ex 2 ace 250 fisher id excel i thinks that it.But the question is on the xlt vid adjustment .I know most programs call for hi setting 80 to 86 ,Why is there a low setting and has anyone detected using a setting of 70 ,60, 50 a low setting and what were results ,i have 3 or 4 books on xlt ,question if a ring was in a bunch of pull tabs would the ring stand out on a low setting and the pull tabs not .Another question why when i go to some sites i pick up quarters dimes nickels Penny's from 65 on up but no sliver i mean there is no machine that can tell you it is sliver close, but if your hunting and you hit a quarter or a dime you are going to dig it up ,so even if someone had a sliver setting machine you would still pick up the quarters at least 90 per cent of people would so how can these 65 and up be sitting there , even if a person was hunting in 75 10 years later he would pick these up just something i cant come to grips with, i just went out other day for half hour freezing here and was trying a new program and here all i pick up is coins in 68 67 70 in that area of coins in a place i hunt all the time .the place was built in 63 and was woods and a play are for kids earlier i think hunting there over the last say 10 15 years i have pulled 4 or 5 sliver coins oldest was 1923 dime,so is sliver not a strong as signal as clad dime iam pondering some explain o me.If you have a clad dime and a sliver dime buried in same place say 10 feet apart for 10 or 15 years same ground which one would have the stronger signal just looking for some answers i can not find in book or on line .Thanks for looking.

Hi,
There is the chance, that there is just no silver there.
Either none was lost or someone has cherry picked the area some time before your search.
Latter could be years back, when people were not into digging nickles and dimes because silver was plentyful.
There is also a good book called:
Taking a closer look at metal detector discrimination - by Robert C. Brockett
I obtained a copy of it from the Whites factory, since they published it.
