Question about using all metal ?

Nock

New member
Yesterday went hunting with my se pro and set it up in the iron mask and adjusted it down to run in all metal. I thought i would try the constant sound tone for this set up, as i was hunting this site the machine would continuly stay in the upper left side of screen or say in the (fe30 co30 area.) Was just wondering if any body might be able to tell me why i was not getting any readings in the right side of the screen.

Upper Left is IRON, Try Fe AM To the right of the screen in Hi tones Left side of the screen is Low tones,
In co upper half of the screen is HI tones right and Left side bottom part of the screen is lower tones, I think AM Fe is the way to go in hi IRON sites, Mickfin

I'm not sure why your machine's smartfind screen was locked in the upper left, unless the ground was just filled with iron nails and such. One thing you can try is instead of hunting with one tone (which I didn't even realize was an option on the Explorers), try using Ferrous sounds -- this way, when hunting in all-metals, all the iron will sound off with low tones, and if there is a good target hidden in there (with lower Fe number), it will sound off with a higher tone...

Sometimes EMI and soil content will cause it in Disc mode. Even to high sensitivity can cause the cursor to not move in disc. But in AM you should get all kind of jumping of the cursor from those very things i just mentioned along with targets both good and bad. Ive never found a purpose to use the single tone available on the machine. It kind of defeats the purpose of having a disc machine. The explorers arent a true AM machine since the signals are processed for TID. Ive not tested the single tone AM. Perhaps i should.... it may be a true AM which is like pinpoint. The machine doesnt have to process a signal and only gives a single tone telling you a metal target just passed under the coil. It doesnt try to id the target and gets max depth. Ferr works good in iron ridden areas... but you still get high tone in the lower right corner from rust. Since the machines screen jump is based more on the Ferr than Cond numbers id say its what you what to hear. I use Ferr in fields because of the minerals and iron its great for old coppers..... you just have to check those HOT ROCK hits until you get used to their unique tone because Large Cents sound a lot like them. You may not be used to the machine yet.... switch to Ferr or Cond and go back to factory settings ... are you getting multi tones and nulling? IF you arent getting overwhelmed with constant and various tones something is wrong. Ill get out in the next couple of days and try the single tone it might be something useful for places like a beach if it improves depth.

I didnt find any deference in depth using constant sounds on found targets yesterday when hunting. Id say because the signal is being processed for TID. NOW had they not processed it and made it a non motion pin point it would have had a purpose on say a beach much like a PI. Something that would REALLY be on my Christmas list. I dont believe the Exp II shows the TID like the SE while in PP..... so AM constant might be deeper and useful.
