If you have one and use it in salt water I have a question for you.
Today the threshold kept fading away in waist deep water.
On the beach it would gradually get louder.
Flipping the reset switch returned it to where I had it adjusted but then it would slowly start drifting again.
Is this normal?
I had a pull tab about 4" deep in wet salt sand. Not damp ... wet!
I lifted the coil to the limits of detection and turned the threshold knob all the way down.
It did not seem to make any difference as the detector would detect the tab at any setting of the threshold knob with no measurable loss of depth.
I dropped a dime in about 5" of salt water to see how high I could lift the coil above the water and still detect the coin.
With the wave action varying the depth slightly the detector could detect the dime about 5" above the water with no falsing.
That was about 10" total distance. Sensitivity knob was on the preset mark.
Some detectors will totally fail this test.
