question about the T2 ----

DOES THE HUM SETTING HAVE ANY AFFECT ON THE DEPTH OF THE T2???---ALSO WHEN HUNTING IN THE DISC. MODE IS THE FE SUPPOSE TO GIVE A READING WHILE SWINGING THE COIL???---MINE HARDLY EVER MOVES ---IT STAYS BLANK 99% OF THE TIME--VERY SELDOM MOVES, AND WHEN IT DOES MOVES ONLY UP 1 NOTCH???

I can't check the hum level very well indoors, but a half dollar detected at essentially the same distance with the settings at both extremes. The audio got quieter at minimum hum level of -9 but the coin still detected. Smaller items might drop out. I don't know how often you'd be running at a minus 9 setting. I've barely nudged it below zero in my brief outdoor tests of it. Sensitivity affects depth much more, it seems to me.

For the FE, I think it's mainly to check decomposed iron in the soil, but I did see some targets indicate iron in the field today. Pump the coil for the best FE reading, according to the manual. I tried that, and did get a bar or two at my site. In a quick air test, again waving an item by the coil or running it towards and away from the coil, it only randomly hit on the FE bar graph but hit high when it did. I used a shiny clean washer and a rusty harness buckle.

Maybe one of us that has tried it outdoors or can check it easier than I will add their comments.

The FE will stay at 0 if there isn't any trace of iron around. If you go inot a trashy environment where there's lot of rusted stuff you will see it spike significantly. I was using the T2 today and found a couple of neat stuff (iron). Though I was using the VDI numerics as my prime indicator I couldn't help but notice that each time I ran over some iron I did see the FE move a notch or two. I have had it spike all the way up on occasion. I only wish mine would stay at zero, I'm primarily a coin shooter thus if the FE starts going up I know I'm in for some trouble trying to accuartely ID the coins that are up in the 80's.
