Question about the silver Umax

can you turn the disq back far enuff to hear Iron nails? I know the outlaw is completly silent on them ,

In the discriminate mode some rusty nails will crackle and pop. Flip over to 'all metal', which is really like the discriminate mode on the Silver except it has a lower ED acceptance and you can detected all the iron you want. That's a feature that I really like on the Silver. It's like having 2 discriminate modes. You also get better depth using 'all metal'.

Of course to remove the nails or just hear them , alot of the hunting I do is digging nails to find masked targets. especialy at old house sites, or say I am hunting a soccer feild, I like to remove the bobby pins and as long as you can still tell Iron from non its a good thing and i may want to get a silver umax and put one of my coils on that instead of changing it all the time , I used to own a silver umax and forgot if it could hear nails i tell you the outlaw is dead silent on nails , you will never know your going over a nails in its disq mode. thats one thing i liked about the compadre is i could dig the nails or at least get them to break.

Also, I hear that relic hunters use the 'all metal' mode to help them locate nails at old home sites that are no longer standing and have vanished from sight.

They are starting to use PI machines as well for max depth.
