Question about the Sand Shark battery check...

For those that own or have owned a Sand Shark, how accurate is the battery check feature on this detector?
I have read comments about it not being an accurate indicator of true battery health/charge.
Just curious.. mine seems to go a long time on a set of batteries.. never took the time to calculate run hours on a set of batteries, but I do usually run a battery check after about 10-15 minutes of operation on my machine.

I have not done any real analysis on battery condition compared to beeps on the battery check. When it gets to two beeps I normally just change the batteries. I've had it get to one beep and it was still detecting well. I have not run it until it wasn't detecting anymore. Sand Shark gets decent life from alkaline batteries and AA batteries are not very expensive, and even better priced when bought in bulk quantities.

That doesn't add much information; but I have not noticed a drop in performance when the battery check gets to one or two beeps. Maybe I'm throwing out batteries that still have life in them, but would rather do that than be a long walk from the car and have the detector die due to the batteries.
