Question about the Exployer II and Black Widow Headphones

I purchased a set of the Black Widow phones to use with my Exployer. They sure block out outside noise. However, I'm disappointed in the amount of volume they produce. I have the Exployer volume setting on maximum (10) and have to turn the control volume on the headphones to maximum most of the time. If no outside noise I can back off 1 click on the volume control. Today I was hunting fairly close to a running lawn mower and could not turn the volume up enough to hear a threshold sound. I thought the Black Widow headphones were designed for someone with hearing problems. I can get much more volume with the stock phones. Does anyone else have this problem? Any comments would be appreciated.

Take them back. I have the same setup and can run the volume way down and hear clearly. The BW's are way better than the stock.

If it isn't the headphones, get yourself a signal amplifier to put on your detector and this will solve your problem with the volume. Doc's Place sells them if you are wanting to get one. Hope this helps and you solve the problem.

I think that the explorer needs more volume too yes, i have noticed the lack of volume problem. The explorer just has barely enough volume for my liking - some extra volume adjustment is something i would like to see on the new explorer 3 when it comes out in April 2008 .

I must be blessed with good hearing. Even though my wife does not think so. I run the volume at 5 if I am wearing a knit hat under the phones. If I dont have a hat and I am away from any noise I can go down to 4. The threashold hum even drove my a little goofy so I lowered that to were it just disappears. Even then if I detect over 3 hours in trashy spots my ears are ringing at the lower volumes.
The Stock Koss headphones that came with it are the ones I am using.
