Question about the Explorer XS

Neil

Well-known member
Which of these two numbers is the earlier model? This is the serial number on the back of the control box.

XA 06762

XA1 20368

Im trying to figure out which models were the earliest run of the XS that had the camlock issues.

I think theres also a version to look for on the screen? Anyone know the two variations there?

Hello Neil i own a 1999 Explorer XS serial # XA 00544 must be a early one  but i did have the cracking cam and case . I sent minelab a E-mail asking if thay had any control housings and thay did so thay sent me one for free and i did the transfer and it is like new agane  hope this helps

It does help sasquache, thank you very much. Yours sounds it was one of the earlier ones being a 1999 so I would guess the XA1 serial numbers are the second set after yours. The XS I just bought is XA 08570 and looks great. I was thinking of picking up another in case the cam cracked on this one but probably wont now since minelab still/might have the control housings for them.
The electronics keep right on ticking don't they? Great machines.
Thank you again,
Neil

Its unbelievable how the electronics keep going in these older units but some day thay may give out and i will have too get a E-trac
