Question about the brass hole next to the headphone jack going into the surf tommorow

Howard Snell

There is a brass hole next to my waterproof connector for the headphones. What's the point of this hole and should it be uncovered if I'm going surf hunting tommorow?

Don't worry about it. It is the receiving end of the wireless module screw.

I'm sure you meant the WIRED headphone adaptor :)

But yet still today Minelab shows the detector being dunked with the headphone module attached in advertisements.
But there is a disclaimer in the manual that says not all parts of the detector are waterproof.
So I guess that covers it should you do just that?????

I had fun with this picture when the CTX first came out. Although the standard headphone adapter will work underwater and it will not hurt the CTX, it is not designed for water use. Rust and corrosion will eventually do the damage to the adaptor. The adaptor should be off when in the water.
