question about the AT-PRO headphone adaptor

Ok. So the headphone adaptor allows one to use any headphones with a 1/4 plug.
My question is this.
There is a clip that has to be screwed in place under the arm rest. If I decide to remove the cable adaptor and use the Garrett waterproof headphones can I leave that clip still attached beneath the armrest when switching to regular Garrett AT headphones. Or do I have to remove the clip as well with a screw driver each time I switch headphones. I would think that I only have to remove the adaptor cable and leave the adaptor clip in place.

Thanks
HH

I have tried the adapter and found that half the headphones I have tried are not the right impedence for the machine, and I needed an in-line volume control to add the resistance to bring the impedence to what the At wants...
The impedence mismatch means the volume in the headphones is usually low...Also, remember that the At Pro has MONO output (it is only 2 pins)...Your headphones should have a mono/stereo switch to work correctly...
I have given up on the Adapter, and just use the stock headphones...I will get the waterproof phones if I ever get the chance to get in the water, and if we do not go into the next Ice Age...It has been cold and actually spitting snow flakes here the last few days...In NY...Go figure!

HH,

Thank you BigCat!

I just cut my original headphones and put a stereo 1/4" jack at the end with the shield connecting to both outer rings. I use jolly roger headphones, as well as a pair of nugget busters. On both of those, the switch on the side of the headphone allows the sound to come through the headphones when in the up position, and it comes out of the AT's factory speaker in the down position. It actually comes in really handy when hunting with a buddy, because I can just flip the switch to get their opinion on a target!
There wasn't any impedence issues with either of the headphones, but both have volume controls. With the volume turned all the way up, they are quite loud.
