Question about the 1280-X ...

Willee - Texas

Well-known member
Is the 1280-X basically a 1270 in a waterproof housing?

Am asking to see if the 1270 coils would work on my 1280-X detector.

Actually I think that those coils are technically interchangable, but the fact is you will compromise the water-proof integrity of the 1280X if you try to put another coil on there by yourself. Not to mention you need to know how to sauder.

1280 and 1270 are completely different machines. Searchcoils are not interchangeable, not even close.

A 1280 is could be a 1225 inside, anyway it is much more like it. They are not very adapable to land coils, but they will work. A friend of mine put a waterproof connector down the wire on one so he could swap coils. Better to buy a land machine if that's what you want. There plenty of good cheap one out there.
