Question about target responses on the concentric v DD coil.

Hi all.
I was wondering if the TID is noticeably more stable with say the 6x9 concentric coil than the standard DD coil on the AT Pro?
I'm also interested to know if the pinpointing is more accurate with the concentric coil? I've used a mates AT Pro and noticed that for targets about 4in deep and deeper, the pinpoint was way off on test targets.
Thanks.
Mick Evans.

The larger DD coil can be a little more difficult to pin point accurately than the smaller DD coil. But it shouldn't be way off. Perhaps a different way of pin pointing. The smaller DD has a smaller detection field and missing the target because the sound is much quicker. You have to listen more intently and swing slower than with the larger DD. I haven't used a concentric coil, but the majority of users will tell the DD is best.

Thanks for your response grumysrd.
I'm starting to think that there may be a problem with the detector that I was using. the owner of it had sent it back for repairs a couple of times. At least one of those was due to it leaking.
I'm quite comfortable with DD coils having used them for several hundred hours of detecting pleasure. From the brief use of the AT Pro, I really enjoyed the tonal information that it gives, but found both the notch and number visual ID to be more unstable than most detectors, which could be perhaps an issue with the detector in particular that I used. I know that DD coils do cause the TID to be less stable, which is why I was wondering about the 6x9 coil. That coil plus it's big brother have always been my favourite coils that I've used on any detector (and I have owned at least one detector from all the major US/Aussie manufacturers.)
