Question about Sunray 8" and 12" coils

I have a Sovereign XS-2A Pro with the 8" coil. Well, I think it is actually around 7.5". Would there be any advantage in getting a Sunray 8" coil. How much more depth and target separation would I get from the Sunray 8" if any. Or would it be about the same as what I already have. I am also thinking of getting the 12" coil from Sunray. Or should I just get the 12" and keep the 8" Minelab coil that I have already? Thanks.

Ive kept the BBS 8 and bought the S12!But from what I read the S8 is a great coil also!Keep the BBS8 for higher trash areas and if you can afford it later get the S5.For me it was the best move that Ive done.HH

Both of these coils are excellent if you know your Sovereign well, if not you may be better learning the Sovereign with the coil you have then get a different one. The S-8 seem to separate better and can run the sensitivity higher plus get better depth I have notice and even lighter weight too than the BBS 8. Now I notice myself it seems like the hot band may not be as wide as the 8 inch coin search coil, so the signals are not drawn out as long, so you have to listen more in my opinion. Now if you know your Sovereign this is no problem as you will hear them, but if you are learning it than it will make learning it harder. One of the guys here that is real good with the Sovereign found he found many deeper coins he had missed before with the BBS 8 inch coil.
Now the S12 is one great coil if you need a bigger coil and feel it is the best bigger coil made as it will separate great and has excellent depth too. I did the field test on this coil for park use and I feel it did much better than I had expected and as you notice those that have them are not selling them are they? that tells you something don't it?
Now if you were to pick which one to get first I would say it depends on your detecting. If you are in some area where it is very trashy or a lot of target then the S8 would be my choice, but if it is not real trashy than being you have a 8 inch coil to use in those areas I would go for the S12 for the coverage and the depth.

I would like to get the S12 for the lake beachs here, since I don't live near the ocean, for the depth and coverage. Most of the places that I hunt do have a lot of trash, so I will use the BBS8 in those areas for now. I would like to have the S5,S8,and S12, but that would cost more than double than what I paid for the Sovereign. I am leaning more towards the S12 for now and maybe after a while the S5 or the S8. Thank You both for your help.
