Question about running with iron audio on or off

Hello all, I am new to the Garrett At Pro forum and just got my Pro last week. I took it out for a hunt this weekend and found some nice relics. I really liked the way the detector separated in the iron. This place was full of iron and I ran in pro zero, disc about 35 with iron audio on all the time. I tried switching iron audio off but the pops and cracks wore me out more than the constant sound of the iron audio. I actually found the iron audio to be pleasant. I have 2 questions, one, with iron audio off is it normal, in areas with lots of iron, to hear constant pops and cracks that sound like a short in a stereo speaker?
The second question is, do you run with iron audio off or on? Thanks for any advice -- Randy

Your pops and cracks are normal especially with higher sens. I run with the audio ON. This saves me one more button to push. Also like you the burbs are nice and relaxing. I have been running with 35 iron disc. But haven't dug anything good between 35 and 40. So today I ran the iron disc at 40. I really don't think I missed anything.

PS: I fell asleep hunting today listening to the iron audio. :heh:

Thanks Kenny for the feedback, I know the documentation says to just use the iron audio to check the target but I like it on all the time, glad to see someone else using it like this now I don't feel like I am out in left field on this.
P.S. thanks for coming up with the Gizmo it really made a difference for me with my bad shoulder! -- Randy

We may be the only two crazy hunters that like the iron audio ON. I'm so lazy, today I dug most targets without using the PP button. I don't want to wear my thumb out. I have a great story that may come to light. I have to make sure it's confirmed first. But I can tell you that it involves a nice silver promise ring I found today at a baseball field. The kicker is that a good friend of mine told me two years ago he threw a promise ring over his shoulder at the park when his girlfriend rejected it. That was 35 years ago! I hope it's the one? More later.
The ATpro hit it at a solid #82

PS: I'm happy the Gizmo is doing you right!

One thing I noticed with my limited time on the Pro. It seems to me the sweep speed can be anywhere from fast to super slow and you can still get the target. I found myself just doing a little wiggle and turning 90 degrees and doing another wiggle and then dig. I didn't use the pinpoint much. Being able to use any sweep speed is another nice feature.

Kenny, can't wait to hear the rest of the story. -- Randy

That is true. Ultra fast to mega slow. It will find them.

About the ring - Just in case it is the correct ring? I want to surprise him while getting it on film. It may not be the right ring? I hope it is!
