Question about resolution...

Hi All:
I'm new to this so bear with me. For this question, please ignore printing large images. For now, I am only concerned about posting images to the web.
If I shoot my images at say 1280 x 960, using a "Fine" setting for compression, will I have better looking images when I reduce and post them to the web at say 640 x 480, then if I shoot them at 640 x 480 "Fine" in the first place? In both cases, I Save As .. "High - 7" jpegs in Photoshop LE. If you spot anything wrong with this process, please let me know.
Thanks for any help.

I'm not familiar with Photoshop LE but high end graphics programs typically have various ways of resizing photos. The best choice to enlarge isn't the best one to reduce. You must experiment.
