Question about prospecting mode.

If you switsh to in prospecting mode to check a target, sens at about 10 decimation say on 6 using 6 inch coil or if you push your discrimination into sat mode. The readings are vid 60 to 70 on the swing 20 to 30 percent iron and gnd in the 70 but your screen display is two notch iron, the object is 9 to 10 inches down and the threshold peaks.Do you believe these are coins or big piece of iron? Which reading is the most actuate and which goes the deepest? Thanks for the help.

you must have a different MXT than I do. Besides with a 6in coil, my MXT wouldn't give a stable VDI reading on a 9 or 10in deep coin even with the gain wide open. Why not try raising your coil a few inches higher as you swing over the target? If you do that and the depth reading doesn't change or the signal drop off it's probably not a coin but a larger target. A 9 or 10 in deep coin gives a pretty iffy signal on about any detector I've used.

Is set to sat. and threshold peaks on a iffy target. It will pick targets at 9 or t 10 inches with a 6 inch coil and of course they are iffy..I was asking what is the most accurate the percentage reading the vid reading or the screen reading if it show two notches into iron.I was asking to see if anyone has been digging these targets. Was searching for information on deep targets and how to improve your percentage of digging them.I have been using the mxt since it came out .Just looking for input didn't say it was a stable reading.Yes on most the detectors i use unless iam using a big coil a 9 or 10 inch target gives a iffy signal .Thanks for your help

I guess I didn't understand . When I'm after deep targets I use a big coil and a small coil for trashy areas. I mainly use the DD coils on my MXT and when I'm after really deep targets I grab my Explorer or T2. Sorry I couldn't help.
