Question about planting a coin garden

A

Today I started planting my coin garden.
I planted a mercury dime at 10 inches flat.
Then 20 inches away from that I buried a silver quarter at 8 inches and flat as well (not on edge).
Before I planted the quarter I was getting a faint sound from the dime. But I seem to have lost the sound. For some reason I cannot pick up the quarter.
Is this like air testing until the soil settles?
I have been in Quickstart Smart mode with sense up all the way on manual and gain up all the way as well. At first when I planted the dime gain was half way. After putting it up all the way I could get the dime. But now I can't.
Also, about 40 feet away are two transformers on the electrical pole that comes to the farm house.
Is there a way to tweak this super cool Explorer XS better to get a tone from those coins?
Or do I just need to wait for the soil to settle some more and wait for the coins to make a halo? But the halo may take a couple years?
Thanks for ANY help!
I figure that if I can find a dime at 10 inches by listening to the sound it gives I can find anything.

I planted a test gaden with various coins from 2" to 10" and marked there location with golf tees, and could not even pick up the dime at 2". well left the garden for a while, and after two months I went back to it and most of the coins were slapping me in the face, it has been 6 months since then and all coins ring out good.. hope this helps

I had the same thing happen to me but after 6 months or so they were coming in loud and clear.
